Trump releases abortion stance, says states should determine regulations on procedure

Presumptive GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump on Monday announced his stance on abortion ahead of the November election, sticking, as expected, with the Supreme Court decision that the matter should be decided by the states.

The high court and its conservative majority's ruling on the issue in 2022 ended roughly 50 years of federal protections for abortion, effectively handing the issue to states.

Trump also said he favors exceptions to abortion bans and suggested most American voters do not support a total ban.
